"I hope that when people see my work, they feel an emotional connection and are inspired in some way. God has blessed me with new friends and wonderful clients along the way that I hope will enjoy their portraits for many years to come."

- Katherine Buchanan

Katherine Buchanan's love of painting people has led to many commissions that are on display in private, corporate, and government collections throughout the United States.

Katherine is an experienced painter of both children and adults. Her clients find her very easy to work with, because she wants them to be absolutely pleased with the outcome. She is always looking for something really special about a subject. "There is something beautiful about every person and I try to pick up on what is good and positive," she says.

She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mississippi University for Women with a concentration in drawing and painting. Although most of her portrait work is self-taught, she recently enjoyed studying under portrait artist Joshua LaRock. She spent many years working as an illustrator and art director for various magazines in addition to painting commissions. She also enjoys drawing and plein air painting.

She is a member of Portrait Society of America, Mississippi Oil Painters Association, and Oil Painters of America.
