The job of the Portraits, Inc. Sales Associate is to assist potential clients in the process of selecting the perfect artist for their commissioned portrait. With so many exceptional artists on the Portraits, Inc. roster, that choice is not always an easy one. Our associates familiarize themselves with the styles and working methods of each of our artists to facilitate the process and become the portrait experts on whom our clients rely.

With nearly 70 years of experience in the portrait business, Portraits, Inc. employs charismatic, service-oriented associates who are committed to our mission. Currently we have more than 60 sales associates in 22 states and operate galleries in New York, NY, Birmingham, AL, and Flat Rock, NC.

What is it like to work as a sales associate for Portraits, Inc.?

That’s a great question. Our entire team, including sales professionals and office staff, have a great appreciation for custom portrait artistry. When our sales associates are working with clients for commissioned pieces, it’s important to remember that many commissioned pieces are close to the clients’ heart, and should be treated as such. Our portrait artists create one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork that will be handed down through generations.


Are sales associates with Portraits, Inc. required to travel?

While some travel is required for the sales associate positions at Portraits, Inc., many of our clients are within our service area near our three locations. Contact our team to learn more about the travel required for our sales associate positions.


What is the most important thing about working as a sales associate at Portraits, Inc.?

As commissioned portrait artists, the most important thing is the development of a personal relationship with the client and/or their family. Many of our clients are commissioning paintings of those nearest and dearest to their heart, so being able to maintain a professional yet personal relationship with the client will help to collect the most information about the commissions for our portrait artists.


With what does the sales associate assist the client during the sales process?

Our sales associates are the go-to person for any prospective client, and guides them through the commissioning process before our artists create their one-of-a-kind piece. Each sales associate works personally with the client to determine what is the best selection for the client based on budget, time frame, personal taste and preferences. Using this information, our sales associates will pair the client with the right portrait artist to create their piece.


How long will the sales associate work with the client?

Generally the sales associate works with the client in the beginning stages of the commission, and allowing the relationship to form between the client and the artist following the artist selection and initial introductions.


Can clients reach out to their sales associate if something seems to not go as planned or as expected?

Absolutely! If something happens that isn’t anticipated or expected, please reach out to your sales associate or any of our gallery coordinators.
