Meg Irby Clement

Mrs. Whittington W. Clement (Meg) of Richmond, Virginia, serves as an associate in Richmond, Virginia, for Portraits, Inc.

For nearly 16 years, Meg has represented more than 100 artists and sculptors who work in various mediums, styles, and at all price levels. She provides full service beginning with a presentation of many artists’ portfolios and biographies based on the client’s preferences and needs. She coordinates the entire project with the client and artist through the framing and installation stage. Meg has helped families, corporations, governors, colleges and universities throughout Virginia with their commission projects whether it be a child’s or executive’s portrait or a sculpture.

Born in Norfolk, Meg grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in mathematics, after having transferred from Randolph Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Meg and her husband, Whitt, lived in Danville, Virginia, for 12 years, during which time he was a member of the state legislature. Most of her energies were devoted to raising their three sons. Meg is a member of the University of Virginia Cancer Center Board. She served as a board member of the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and was a co-founder of the Dan River Alliance for the Arts. Meg received a gubernatorial appointment to serve on the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the statewide arts’ coordinating body, which she chaired for two years. Her strong interest in art led to portraits of her three children and her introduction to and subsequent work with Portraits, Inc. Meg and her family moved to Richmond where she was later appointed to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, chairing its Artistic Oversight Committee and serving on its Executive Committee.

Meg is a Master Gardener and has served on the Boards of The Garden Club of Virginia and the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond. She also served as State Chairman of Historic Garden Week in Virginia in 2016-2017. Her study of the arts and extensive arts-related activities for the past 35 years helps her clients in choosing the right artist or sculptor for them.

Meg's husband, Whitt, is a partner at the law firm of Hunton & Williams LLP.
