"Turning Plein Air Studies into Large Paintings" Painting Workshop with Dawn Whitelaw

Portraits, Inc., and the Beverly McNeil Gallery will be offering a new workshop April 3 - 6, 2019:

TURNING PLEIN AIR STUDIES INTO LARGE PAINTINGS WITH DAWN WHITELAW

Acclaimed landscape painter Dawn Whitelaw will teach you how to take your small plein air studies into the studio to create large paintings.  The workshop opens on Wednesday, April 3 with an optional day of painting plein air on your own and a reception and demo in the evening.  Thursday through Saturday are devoted to working on large studio paintings at Beverly McNeil Gallery.  You may opt to bring a plein air study from home rather than painting plein air on Wednesday.

Dawn studied with master portraitist Everett Raymond Kinstler and has taught painting at the university level for over 30 years.  She is a founding member of the Cumberland Society of Painters and a charter member of the Chestnut Group. Ms. Whitelaw is currently on the faculty of the Peninsula School of Art and the Portrait Society of America, where she holds the office of Vice Chairman.  In recent years, she has won awards in The Olmsted Plein Air Invitational, the Piedmont Plein Air Paint Out, and in Plein Air Richmond.  The American Impressionist Society elected her to Master status in 2016.
